Meet Steve, our CAD Designer at SYNC.
For the past eight years, he has expertly translated client needs into precise designs.
How did you get into your current role/career?
After finishing my Engineering Design degree at RMIT, I started at Holden Limited as junior draftsman progressing to senior CAD designer. Styling, design, development, manufacture & assembly are core elements in the automotive industry.
Tell us a bit about your role at SYNC, particularly how technology and digital innovation play a part in your daily work.
Leveraging my extensive background in engineering & design, I master a range of CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs. This expertise allows me to quickly translate client requirements into detailed designs, speeding up the development process for our bathroom pods and ensuring precision and efficiency throughout production.
How have the digital tools you use, changed in the past 5 years, for better or worse?
The technologies developed in CAD have advanced to incredible levels. The use of 3D printers have established fast turnaround times of part development in having a specific part in hand to refine, further develop & verify before committing to production quantities.
What attracted you to SYNC’s tech-driven approach to manufacturing?
The entirely different field of building construction, in particular bathroom pods that are completely built off-site & installed in little time.
How has SYNC supported your professional growth and development?
Continually enabling me to learn new CAD programs, design production tools to improve faster assembly & completion times.
How does SYNC’s emphasis on technology influence the way you collaborate the manufacturing team?
SYNC’s focus on technology drives us to constantly enhance production processes, streamline operations, and support the manufacturing team allowing them to work more effectively and efficiently.
What advice would you give to someone considering a tech-forward career in manufacturing at SYNC?
I would encourage a candidate to have a PASSION for design, have a HUNGER for engineering principals and be DETERMINED to explore all facets of Computer Aided Design programs.
